As Toyota's most enduring nameplate, the Land Cruiser has long been revered for its off-road prowess and dependable performance. Now, after an almost three-decade hiatus, it's set to make a triumphant return to Canada with the 2024 model, reviving its roots as a resilient off-road adventurer.

Toyota's globally acclaimed CALTY Design Research has harmonized with the global development team, with their collaboration being reflected in the new Land Cruiser's design. Driven by four essential principles: authenticity, reliability, timelessness, and professionalism, the new design brings together form and function in pure harmony.

The new generation Land Cruiser, exclusively powered by the i-FORCE MAX turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, will push out 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Utilizing Toyota's global TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, it's designed to thrive under the most extreme conditions. Interestingly, it's smaller and narrower than the outgoing 200 Series, offering better agility on challenging terrains.

Beyond the powertrain, Toyota has added a host of advanced features. The vehicle comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and features a 12.3-inch touchscreen equipped with the latest Toyota Multimedia system and a Multi Terrain Monitor. The brand will also launch a First Edition grade that will be restricted to 5,000 units for the North American market, adding round heritage LED headlamps, a roof rack, rock rails, and an exclusive interior design to its roster of features.

The 2024 Land Cruiser harkens back to its ancestry, revisiting the iconic round LED headlights, the "TOYOTA" heritage grille, and the boxy look that initially made it an off-road sensation. However, it brings contemporary functionality to the table as well. The model also offers improved outward visibility thanks to the repositioned A-pillar and decreased front overhang for greater approach.

Its hybrid powertrain, i-FORCE MAX, comes as a standard on all grades, combining a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with a 48-hp electric motor, generating a total system output of 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. A full-time four-wheel-drive system is standard across all models, improving control on diverse terrains.

The 2024 Land Cruiser represents a fusion of the brand's core values of quality, dependability, and reliability. The Land Cruiser will be available in three grades: Land Cruiser 1958, Land Cruiser, and the limited-run Land Cruiser First Edition. Toyota is also offering a Premium Package with a plethora of luxury features.

The model will be produced at Toyota Motor Corporation's Tahara and Hino plants in Japan and is expected to reach Canadian shores in spring 2024. Pricing details will be disclosed closer to the on-sale date. The arrival of the 2024 Land Cruiser is set to be another significant chapter in Toyota's celebrated history, offering fans a slice of the past reimagined for the present and the future.
