2024 Toyota Prius: A Hybrid for the Future, Built for Canada

Toyota Canada has unveiled its latest offering, the 2024 Toyota Prius, a vehicle that continues to define the standard for hybrid technology. This next-generation model pairs innovative features with efficient design, offering an athletic silhouette and a clean, modern aesthetic that suggests both efficiency and agility.

Under the hood, the new Prius comes with a 5th generation hybrid powertrain, incorporating a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder engine, a motor-generator system, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This results in a robust 196 system horsepower and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.2 seconds. All models feature an electronic on-demand AWD system that drives the rear wheels and enhances stability across various road and weather conditions. Importantly for drivers concerned about fuel economy, the Prius achieves an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 4.8L/100km for both city and highway driving.

The interior of the vehicle prioritizes both comfort and utility, accommodating up to five adults. The cabin features high-tech design elements and soft-touch materials for an inviting atmosphere. Furthermore, controls and gauges are strategically placed for optimal accessibility and visibility. A 60/40 split folding rear seat and an intelligently designed battery placement make for generous cargo capacity.

In terms of technological integration, the Prius is nothing short of advanced. The Toyota Multimedia system, standard on all models, features a range of connectivity technologies that include wireless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interface is designed for easy interaction through sight, touch, and voice, offering a seamless and safe driving experience.

Safety remains a cornerstone for Toyota, and the 2024 Prius comes packed with an array of safety features. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 headlines this package, offering a range of active safety technologies that support driver awareness and decision-making. Additional standard safety features include a backup camera, eight airbags, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist.

Two distinct grades are available for the Canadian market: The Prius XLE AWD at $37,150 and the Prius Limited AWD at $43,250. The higher-end Limited AWD model enhances the offering with features such as a panoramic view monitor and an advanced parking system, among others.

According to Cyril Dimitris, Vice President of Toyota Canada Inc., the 2024 Prius is "ideal for the realities of travelling across Canada in any weather." The vehicle aims to fulfill Toyota’s mission to go “Beyond Zero” in carbon emissions, offering a stylish and efficient option for those looking to make a sustainable choice.
